Sharon Jones succumbs to cancer

“She was surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings.”
Her first record with the band came out 2002, hitting it big with 2005’s Naturally and 2007’s 100 Days, 100 Nights. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, but appeared to beat it and returned to the stage, before it came back last year. “We are deeply saddened to announce that Sharon Jones has passed away after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer,” a message left on her website read. Soul singer Sharon Jones, leader of band the Dap-Kings, has died. She was 60 years old, but didn’t start her recording career until she was in her 40s.
